We Have Updates

We Have our updates and some made our day and others made us sad.
Fabrice looks Happy and healthy he is such a Handsome young man and we miss him so much we had fun getting to know him on the October trip.
Then we received this update on poor Nerlande she looks so Miserable they have sent her to the Doctor and they gave her some cream for the rash but Chareyl thinks it might be Chicken pox so if any other kids break out with it we will know. she will let us know Maybe next week or so how she is doing. I wish i could be there to make sure she is not to Miserable but at least I know they sent her to the Doctor. Get feeling better Nerlande we will keep you in our prayers.
Then there was this picture that just made our day because Yonelson is such a mellow little kid that we only have a few pictures that you can see a smile so this pictuer made our day to see him looking Happy and very cool Yonelson love sunglasses:)

We had a great Christmas Eve

We had a very fun Christmas eve we spent time with Dave's Family. Dave's side of the family has lot's of little kids so the party's are loud but fun, The kids all loved decorating cookies for Santa
our kids loved making the strangest cookies and ones that probably put poor Santa into sugar shock when he ate them.
They also learned about white elephant gifts which made some kids Happy and others where like "What is this Present?" but we had fun laughing at there reactions.
So we have had a great Holiday season but we are ready for the new year and hope it will be a great one!

Wishing for a Merry Christmas and Many Miracles

we are getting ready for Christmas and New years eve. This year we have decided to take our kids to the Las Vega's Bowl to cheer on our BYU Football team. It will be a long drive since we have to stop every two hours to let kaleb stretch and make sure he gets some blood flowing so we do not have any more blood clot, but we fill like it will be a great time for our kids. Dave and the boys will go to the football game and me and Payton will spend some fun girl time going to Madame tussauds wax museum. It has been a hard few months but hopefully we are on a good uphill and will have a great new year in 2010.
Tonight was our Christmas party for our Company and so I told my kids they had to go and tell Santa what they wanted and the Santa seemed shocked when all three of our kids told them they did not want anything for Christmas. But then Kaleb said he did want some new legs:)
we wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a great new year
we will keep those that are in need at this time of the year in our prayers.
we wish for Some Christmas Miracles

Don't Worry it will fit

so If you may be traveling this Christmas and you wonder how you will make it all fit and how you can make room for everyone in the car,you can just follow what they do in Haiti just keep stacking the luggage and just squeeze everyone in,and don't worry if your tire looks like it's flat it will make it.
so on this last trip we arrived in Haiti with all of our luggage and they just started loading it up on the little Nissan truck that the tire looked pretty much flat, but that did not seem to bother them they just kinda talked about it and then continued on loading all of our luggage, then it was time for everyone to squeeze into the van and be on are way, but don't worry we had natural air conditioning to cool us off and don't worry if you feel a bug crawling up your leg and can not reach it,It will go away after awhile, eeeh it was so gross but I survived.

Not afraid of the water

Nerlande just loves the swimming pool.If we just let her stay in her swimsuit she would. I remember on the first trip she hated the water, but she is defiantly not afraid anymore she will just jump right in with no fear. she loves to swim with anyone that will let her splash them she loves to get people wet, she is such a character.
we can not wait for the big family to meet her and see her in action attitude and all:) We love her so much...

He loves a Beach ball

One thing we can not for get when we go visit are sweet yonelson in Haiti is a beach ball once he finds one he holds on to it and wants to take it where ever he can. We have learned that he is not a big fan of swimming but when the other kids get in there swimsuit he wants to put his on.
Once in awhile he will try to get in the water but he would much rather just kick his beach ball around the pool. Yonelson is such a sweet little guy and he has a real hard time when we have to leave. we cannot wait to get him home so he can kick his beach ball or soccer ball around our big backyard.

Blessings come in all things

We are finally home but we have several Doctor appt's.for a couple of months-up to a year. We have learned alot about Pulmonary Embolism they are very rare in kids and most kids pass away from them because the symptoms are pushed aside or thought to be something else. we have learned that a soft ball size of kalebs right lung has died but the lung will regrow that part eventually. but for now we will be on blood thinners for awhile and can return to school hopefully DEC 14 for partial days. we also learned that the blood clot traveled up through his leg and passed through his heart then stopped in his lung so we are blessed it stopped where it did and not in his heart or it would have been a different story I would be telling. so sometimes are blessings are there during tough times we just don't know tell we are out of it and find out the whole story. we are counting our blessings at the end of this eventful week and weekend.

Doing better

Kaleb is doing a lot better today they are still working on getting his blood the right level to fight the blood clot. but they came in today to explain the route the blood clot took,it went from the surgery site on his right leg and went up through his heart then into his right lung we are so blessed that it did not stop in his heart they say or it would have been a whole different story. He is not in as much pain today because they also explained that all the pain he had was part of his lung dying off,the amazing thing is that the human body will regrow what part has died off so he should be able to live a full life he will not be able to do alot of risky things until he is off his blood thinners. but we feel very blessed to have a great hospital to come to to help us with our child. The doctors have been Amazing and very helpful explaining things. we also love that the orthopedic Doctor who did the surgery came right away when he heard what had happened and gave both me and Dave a big hug to say he was so sorry that this happened to Kaleb and he has been in every day checking on him.We just love DR.Klatt
we want to thank everyone that has kept Kaleb in there thoughts and Prayers.

We are Back....

Emergency room after the <span class=

Unfortunately we are Back at primary children's Hospital yesterday poor kaleb was having a lot of back pain and trouble breathing . we tried everything we could think of to make it better but nothing was working so at 11:00pm we decided I should take him to the E.R. and I am glad i listened to my gut feeling to bring him all the way to Primary instead of just the American fork Hospital. For those who don't know Primary children's is about a hour drive from our house and I felt so bad because every little bump in the road would just hurt him so bad. he cried all the way to the hospital. we finally got here and the whisked him off to get he checked out before i could get him all signed in. After a couple of test they found out he has a Blood Clot in his right lung and they Admitted him to I.C.U and started blood thinners. we have heard how they are shocked he got a blood clot because this rarely happens to kids.

He Has been able to become stable and he is not in as much pain thanks to Morphine and all the other meds he is on but unfortunately the blood thinner is a shot he get's every 12 hours in his stomach.

sometimes it is so hard to be a parent and watch your kids in so much pain and can not do anything about it.

our yearly Thanksgiving surgery

We are getting ready for Kalebs big surgery that is on wed. morning,He has Femoral torsion so they have to go in and Break his femur then they rotate it then they put a steel pin in his femur and growth plates to keep them in place. It sounds painful and yes it is the whole time he is at the hospital he is on a epidural and strong pain pills that is why he is smiling in the one picture.
We had his left leg done last year and we have to go back in to remove the rod then they will do the right leg. so yes that means we have to have the rod removed next year. Hopefully not at thanksgiving. we where in the hospital last Thanksgiving and now this thanksgiving. But we are very thankful that we can have this done so when he is older he will not have problems with his legs, Plus we feel blessed to live in a great state that has a good children's Hospital.
We hope everyone has a very nice Thanksgiving and can remember all that we are given and can feel Thankful for all our blessings even the one's that are hard.

You Know...

YOU KNOW YOU'RE AN ADOPTIVE PARENT IF ...

1. The fact that there are 143 million children without a parent to kiss them goodnight has made you lose sleep.

2. You realize DNA has nothing to do with love & family.

3. You can't watch Adoption Stories on TLC without sobbing.

4. The fact that, if 7% of Christians adopted 1 child there would be no orphans in the world, is convicting to you.

5. You spend free time surfing blogs about families who've experienced the blessing of adoption.

6. It drives you crazy when people ask you about adopted child's "real" parents.

7. You've been "pregnant" with your adoptive child longer than it takes an elephant to give birth.(2 years!)

8. You had no idea how you'd afford to adopt, but stepped out in faith anyway, knowing He'd provide. (& He does!)

9. You've taken an airplane half-way around the world with a child you just met.

10. You believe God's heart's for adoption.

11. You realize that welcoming a child into your heart & family is one of the most important legacies you could ever leave on this earth.

12. You know what the word "Dossier" means & you can actually pronounce it correctly!

13. You've welcomed a social worker into the most private parts of your life.

14. You shudder when people say your child's so lucky that you adopted them, knowing full well you're the blessed one to have him or her in your life.

Our Thinker

Yonelson is always so deep in thought you can tell he is thinking about what is going on.
Me and Dave felt so bad because we thought to ask someone to talk with Fabrice about becoming part of our Family but we did not think to have someone talk to Yonelson and Nerlange.
Nerlange seemed alright and was not bothered by Fabrice, but We think Yonelson was unsure about Fabrice. Toward the end of our week he seemed to be taking it better. We know Fabrice will look out for him at the O because that last morning he made sure to get all of their tooth brushes and combs and asked where all there clothes where plus Daves deodorant.
We hope you understand Yonelson and we know once you guys are all home you will enjoy having Fabrice here to play and share your life in America with. We love you Yonelson you are such a sweet little boy who has the best smile and we know you will be one amazing young man.

Thank you

I wanted to thank everyone for saying such kind things on the post about Fabrice.
I believe we are all Hero's especially our little kids

Here is a great quote
A hero is an ordinary individual who finds the strength to persevere and endure in spite of overwhelming obstacles.
Christopher Reeve

We are all Hero's because through all the months of waiting and the long times without any words we still love our sweet kids and will not give up on them.

Something to think about

So Poor Dave has been sick for the last two weeks and we have been to the doctors the first time they said he had a sinus infection but then he still was not getting better so we took him back today and we showed the doctor how poor Dave's jaw was all swollen and had been for the last several days. The doctor said he had not seen mumps around for along time. but Dave has it.
So we found out even if you are current on your immunizations ,but you travel to third world countries you should get your MMR shot along with the other strange ones we got we just did not get the Mumps one a little too late but Dave will have a lifetime Immunity to it.

What you can do when you have sickle cell

clark nearly died following a game in Denver two years ago because of a rare blood disorder that is aggravated by playing in high altitude.

Clark had his spleen and gall bladder removed during separate operations and he lost 30 pounds after the Oct. 21, 2007, game in Invesco Field that ended his season. Many of Clark's teammates told him he should skip this game.

Ten-year veteran Tyrone Carter and rookie Ryan Mundy were expected to split snaps in place of Clark.

About 2½ hours before kickoff, Clark went onto the field in a long-sleeve black shirt and baggy black shorts with white tube socks and ran several times from one sideline to the other, walking back each time, resting for a minute and then repeating.

Steelers coach Mike Tomlin told the team's Web site he didn't want to risk Clark's health or burden his teammates and family members with worry.

"I think it was the appropriate thing to do in this situation. I didn't want to be worried about his physical well-being, and I know his teammates would be, plus his wife and family. By not allowing him to play, I think we all can be singularly focused on what we came to Denver to do, which is win a football game," Tomlin told Steelers.com.

Tomlin said Clark took the news well.

"He's fine. Ryan is a professional. He's a team guy, and I think he respected the decision," Tomlin told the Web site.

This is the same disorder that Fabrice Has and as you can see with the proper steps he will be fine and able to do many Activities!
